The bars, and which ones you can walk into with family

Cicada Blu, Sky Deck

An open-air bar 100 metres up, between Aloria and Babblers. The operator describes a lighting installation inspired by cloud formations and summer storms that comes alive after dark. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from noon, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am, until late. Small groups walk in; bookings are only for groups of 30 or more. DJs play on Friday and Saturday afternoons, and on Sundays the November line-up pairs a DJ with a saxophonist from 2:30 to 6:30 pm.

Lobby Bar, The Star Grand

The hotel's own bar, with tall windows towards the river. Coffee and light food in the morning; in the evening wine, craft beer and cocktails with small Japanese plates from the Sokyo kitchen. It is the bar we would use on a wet evening, or for a quiet drink before going up to the room.

Adults only, inside the casino

The casino page lists Sports Bar, LiveWire and Cherry among the venues that opened with the casino. The operator states plainly that guests must be 18 or over to enter LiveWire and Cherry, so the same rule covers all three. If you are travelling with teenagers, these three are off the plan.

Sports Bar

Built for watching sport: two LED screens of more than 12 metres each and floor-to-ceiling glass over the river. For all-ages sport on a screen, the Leisure Deck on Level 7 is the alternative.

LiveWire

The live music room on Level 5. The November 2026 line-up follows the same pattern every Saturday: an acoustic soloist from 2 to 5 pm, a DJ from 5 to 9:30 pm, then a band from 9:30 pm to 12:30 am, with a second DJ set running to 2 am. Fridays have a soloist, a band from 8:30 pm and a DJ until 2 am. Tuesday evenings are trivia nights from 6:30 to 8 pm, with registration from 6 pm.

Cherry

A round 360-degree bar in the middle of the resort, with DJs on Thursday to Sunday evenings in November and a percussionist or saxophonist joining on Fridays and Saturdays.

Taken from the official line-up page on 31 October 2026. The page itself lists two different DJs for Cicada Blu on 21 November, so we show both, and says live entertainment on the Sky Deck can be affected by wet weather.

A word on drinking and the weekend

The Star practises the responsible service of alcohol, and staff can refuse service. We plan the weekend around views, food and the walk over the river, and we do not recommend any bar as a reason to come. If you are driving on Sunday, remember that the car park exit is the last stop of the weekend.
