Parking at The Star Grand: rates, entrances and the catch
Hotel guests get a flat nightly rate, and there is valet at the hotel door. The catch, in the operator's own words: a booking does not guarantee a space, and the car park is often full on Friday and Saturday evenings.
For hotel guests
| Self-parking | $45 per night, flat, for the length of the stay |
|---|---|
| Valet | $65, at The Star Grand porte cochère, 33 William Street — the hotel page says per night, the parking page says per day |
| Guaranteed? | No. The operator says availability is not guaranteed with a hotel booking |
| Busiest | Friday and Saturday evenings |
| Height limit | Plan on 2.1 metres. The parking page says there is no space for vehicles over 2.1 m; the hotel page quotes 2.1 to 2.3 m depending on the entrance |
| Open | 24 hours, 7 days, subject to availability |
Rates as published on 31 October 2026. Because two official pages describe the valet charge differently, we ask the hotel which applies when we answer your request.
What we would do
If you can, come without the car. The operator itself encourages guests to use public transport, and everything in our weekend plan is on foot. If you must drive, arrive before the Saturday evening rush — mid-afternoon, at check-in time — and say in your request that you will have a car, so the hotel at least knows to expect it.
Which entrance
The precinct owner publishes entry maps for three car parks, the hotel's porte cochère and a taxi and pick-up zone. Turn restrictions on William Street mean the right entrance depends on where you come from.
| Entrance | From the south (Riverside Expressway) | From the north (Riverside Expressway) | From the CBD |
|---|---|---|---|
| Car Park A and taxi / pick-up / drop-off (E) — left turn from William St only | Elizabeth Street exit, right onto William Street | Elizabeth Street exit, left onto George St, left onto Adelaide St, left onto William St | From Adelaide Street turn left onto William Street |
| Car Park B — via Queens Wharf Road | Margaret Street exit, left onto Queens Wharf Road | No direct access from the north | No direct access; use the expressway from the south |
| Car Park C — right turn from William St only | Margaret Street exit, right onto George St, right onto Alice St, right onto William St, then the ramp at Margaret St | Margaret Street exit, ramp in the left lane | From Alice Street turn right onto William Street, then right onto the ramp |
| The Star Grand porte cochère (D) — left turn from William St only | Margaret Street exit, right onto George St, right onto Alice St, right onto William St | — | — |
The operator's parking page also mentions roadworks and an alternate route via the Elizabeth Street off-ramp, with the William Street entry staying open. Conditions like these change; check the official page the day before you drive.

| Up to 30 minutes | Free |
| 30 minutes – 1 hour | $30 |
| 1 – 2 hours | $40 |

On select advertised days there is a weekend flat rate of $25 if you enter after 6 am and leave before 5:59 am the next day, and a weekday early-bird rate on select days. Neither is guaranteed. The operator notes card payment and a card surcharge. For friends visiting you for dinner, these are the numbers to send them.
Accessible parking
Disabled parking bays are close to the car park entrance lobbies, according to the operator, and are individually marked. There are lifts to each level.
