Getting to The Star Grand at Queen's Wharf
The hotel entrance is at 33 William Street, on the river side of the CBD. Brisbane's trains, buses and ferries all stop within walking distance, and from South Bank you simply walk across the bridge.
The address, and which door
The Star Grand's porte cochère, where taxis and valet stop, is reached by a left turn from William Street. Pedestrians can also come in from Margaret Street and through the George Street foyer, and the Neville Bonner Bridge from South Bank lands at The Terrace on Level 4.

From Brisbane Airport
The Star's FAQ calls the airports "a short 20 minute drive or easy train or bus ride away". For the train, Airtrain runs from the airport to Brisbane Central every 15 minutes at peak times and every 30 minutes off-peak; from Central it is a walk through the CBD to William Street. Airtrain does not publish the journey time on its frequency page, so we leave it to the Google route below to estimate on the day. A taxi or ride-share drops you at the porte cochère.
Routes we checked in Google Maps
- From Brisbane Airport by public transport
Google picks the train or bus connection for your time of day; Airtrain to Central is one of them. Good for light luggage.
- From Brisbane Airport by car
The 20-minute figure is the operator's; allow for Friday traffic.
- From Roma Street station on foot
Roma Street is one of the three stations the operator lists as walkable.
- From Streets Beach, South Bank, on foot
Across the Neville Bonner Bridge — the route of our Sunday morning.
- From the Gold Coast by car
Via the Riverside Expressway; read our parking page for which exit to take.
Train
The operator lists Roma Street, Central and South Brisbane stations as within walking distance. The precinct owner adds that the Cross River Rail network, described on its page as soon to be completed, will add to that. Timetables are on the Translink site.
Bus
Brisbane's Uptown area, a short walk away, is the hub of the city's bus network, and the precinct owner mentions the free City Loop buses nearby. Translink has the route planner.
Ferry
The North Quay ferry stop is a short stroll along the river. Arriving by water is the slowest way to get here and the most pleasant one, especially on a Saturday afternoon.
Bike and on foot
The upgraded Bicentennial Bikeway runs along more than a kilometre of riverfront at the foot of the precinct, from the Goodwill Bridge to the North Quay ferry terminal. From South Bank you can also cross by the Victoria Bridge, but the Neville Bonner Bridge brings you straight to The Terrace.
Distances the operator publishes
| Place | Distance (Star FAQ) |
|---|---|
| Riverstage | about 1 km |
| The Gabba | about 2 km |
| Suncorp Stadium | about 3 km |
| Brisbane Airport | about 20 minutes by car |
By car
Driving in is the option with the most fine print: four separate entrances, turn restrictions on William Street, and a car park that often fills on Friday and Saturday evenings. All of it is on our parking page.
