How this site earns money
One way, and only one at the moment: when a room request sent through our desk turns into a confirmed stay at The Star Grand, the hotel or the booking partner that completed the reservation pays us a commission.
What we are paid for
A commission on confirmed stays that started as a request on this site. Not on clicks, not on page views, not on requests that do not become bookings. The commission comes from the hotel or the booking partner, out of the rate they charge; you pay the same rate you would be quoted for the same room and conditions.
What is not connected
- Advertising. There are no ads on this site and no advertising network is connected.
- Affiliate networks. We are not running affiliate links. Buttons and links to the hotel go to the official website without tracking parameters.
- Paid content. Nobody has paid for a mention, a position or a sentence on this site, including the restaurants and events we list.
- Gambling. We receive nothing related to the casino and we do not promote it.
If any of this changes — for example if we join a booking partner's programme — we will say so on this page, with the date, before the links appear.
Why we tell you this
Because a guide that earns from bookings has a reason to make every hotel sound perfect. We would rather show you the weekend surcharge, the parking problem and the two official pages that disagree, and let you decide. Our income depends on whether you stay, not on what we write about the stay.
