Accessibility: at the hotel and on this website
Two parts: what the operator says about access at The Star Grand and the resort, and what we have done to make this website usable. Where the official pages are silent, we say so.
At the hotel and the resort
- Rooms. Two accessible categories: the City Accessible Room (about 38 m²) and the River Accessible Room (about 42 m²), each with a king bed and handrails in the bathroom. Details on our rooms page.
- Booking. The operator asks guests to call Reservations on 1800 888 899 or 07 3306 8885 about these rooms and to mention any additional requirements when booking.
- Parking. Disabled parking bays close to the car park entrance lobbies, individually marked.
- Restrooms. The operator says all restrooms offer access for people with disabilities.
- Getting around. The FAQ mentions lifts to every level and outlet, accessible routes and help when needed.
- Events. The Christmas ball page states wheelchair access throughout The Star Brisbane, including the ballroom.
- Art tour. The public art tour lists lifts, ramps and public toilets along its route.
What the official pages do not say
We found no published detail on room dimensions for wheelchairs, bed heights, roll-in showers, hoists, hearing loops or visual alarms, and no gradient for the Neville Bonner Bridge. If any of these matter, list them in your request; we put the questions to the hotel and do not guess the answers.
This website
- Every page has a skip link to the main content and a single main heading.
- Images have text descriptions and are labelled as illustrations.
- Text and buttons are sized and coloured for contrast; the layout works from 360-pixel phone screens upwards without sideways scrolling.
- The form has visible labels. Dates are typed as year-month-day instead of using a date picker, which behaves differently on every phone.
- Animations are kept minimal and respect the reduced-motion setting.
- The Google map loads only when you press the button on the home page, and in place on the getting-there page.
